The Commission is an agency of the federal government, distinct and independent from the RCMP. The Commission reviews and investigates complaints about the conduct of RCMP members. When reviewing a complaint, the Commission does not act as an advocate for either the complainant or the RCMP members.
The Commission inquires into complaints independently and reaches conclusions after an objective examination of the information provided.
